    SHELTERS, FOOD, AND SERVICES
    OAKLAND

    A Safe Place
    510.986-8600 or 510.986-8606. This shelter is for abused/battered
    women and children. They have a 24-hour Crisis Hotline and
    domestic abuse counseling as part of their services. Additionally,
    they offer legal assistance for clients, transportation for clients, and
    emergency food/clothes for clients.

    Ark of Refuge
    Walker House, 9702 International Blvd. at 97th Ave in Oakland near
    San Leandro. 510.635.8422. Serving people with HIV/AIDs. A list of
    their services includes HIV/AIDS Education & Prevention, Assistance
    Housing program for people with HIV/AIDS, Transportation for
    Clients, Emergency Assistance Hotel/Motel Vouchers, Food & Food
    Vouchers.

    City Team Ministries
    722 Washington St. Between 7th and 8th. 510.452.3758. City Team
    provides hot meals, safe shelter, showers, and clean clothing.
    Additionally they have a medical staff and recovery program for men
    who have drug or alcohol additions. This shelter serves single men
    only, and has 50 beds.

    Covenant House
    2781 Telegraph Ave at 28th Street. 510.625.7800. This shelter
    provides services for youths (aged 18-24). With 25 beds, some of
    the resources they provide include a shelter, case management, life
    skills, employment services, substance abuse workshops, and money
    management.

    East Oakland Community Project
    5725 International Blvd. at 57th Ave. 510.532.3211. This shelter has
    30 beds and a number of services. 24-Hour Emergency Shelter,
    Literacy/Computer Training Program, Substance Abuse Counseling,
    HIV/AIDS Shelter, Beds, Food, Clothing, Housing Assistance, Job
    Search and Counseling, Life Skills Counseling, and Health Care
    Opportunity are some of the services that the East Oakland
    Community Project offer.

    Health Care for the Homeless
    1900 Fruitvale Ave., Suite 3E near Foothill Blvd. 510.533.4663.
    Some of the services they offer include programs for housing
    assistance, Food & Food vouchers, transportation substance, abuse
    treatment, urgent medical care, mental health counseling, in-home
    nursing, Hotel/Motel vouchers, move-in assistance, and emergency
    housing.

    Henry Robinson Multi- Service Center
    559 16th St. between Jefferson and Clay. 510.419.1010. They have
    33 beds and offer a 28-Day emergency shelter for families,
    transitional housing, food services, and encourage people to drop in
    during the day.

    Jubilee Restoration/Missionary Recovery Center
    510.849.9072. This 24-bed center focuses on people who have drug
    or alcohol addictions. Their services include the following: case
    management, 12-Step program, emergency shelter for substance
    abusers, transitional housing for substance abusers, food, relapse
    prevention counseling group, job and life skills training and
    counseling, and transitional care.

    Oakland Army Base Temporary Winter Shelter
    Oakland Army Base 1145 Midway St. 510.839.8005 This is a general
    temporary shelter at the Oakland Army base that has room for 100.

    Phase III
    1014 21st St. between Linden and Filbert. 510.763.5713. 510.836-
    5411 Men's Facility. 510.835.4876 Women's Facility. With 20 beds,
    some of their services include, case management, food,
    transportation for clients, transitional housing, counseling, substance
    abuse counseling.

    St. Mary’s Center
    635 22nd Street near San Pablo Ave. 510.893.4723. senior services
    (55 and over), outreach and advocacy, Food for All Ages, preschool,
    winter shelter for seniors, substance abuse treatment, housing for
    clients, transportation for clients, case management, Recovery 55
    Program.
